Motion Offense in Basketball - All You Need to Know as a Player
"You'll never be more open than when you first catch the ball" - Jay Wright
The offensive schemes in basketball are the way how teams run their ball game. There are a lot of different offenses, but today, let's talk about the motion offense in basketball and everything you need to know as a player.
What is a motion offense?
Motion offense is a style of offense that uses players' movements to set them up in a position to score. In a way, it’s similar to “flow” offense but instead of a given set of options to run, players have more freedom to read and react.
It works particularly well for teams that have versatile players that can handle the ball and play multiple positions. Since the players are moving a LOT, it allows them to create mismatches by exploiting their opponent’s expectations.
